• High School Career

A 2013 graduate of Kahuku High & Intermediate School, Kawehena "Kawe" Johnson established himself as one of Hawaiʻi's premier defensive backs while competing for one of the state's most storied football programs. During his standout career, he earned Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State honors, received multiple First Team All-OIA selections, and was named the OIA Red East Defensive Player of the Year in both 2011 and 2012, earning the prestigious honor in consecutive seasons. Johnson played a pivotal role in helping Kahuku capture back-to-back Hawaiʻi state football championships and was later named to the HHSAA Hall of Honor in recognition of his achievements, leadership, and contributions as a student-athlete. His accomplishments cemented his reputation as one of the state's top defensive playmakers before continuing his football career at New Mexico State University.

  • Collegiate Career

Johnson continued his playing career at New Mexico State University, where he competed as a Division I defensive back against some of the nation's top programs. The experience provided firsthand insight into the speed, preparation, and mindset required to perform at the highest levels of collegiate football. Unfortunately, his playing career was cut short by a career-ending neck injury, giving him a unique perspective on both the opportunities and challenges that come with the game. Today, he brings that knowledge directly to TMF athletes, helping them bridge the gap between potential and opportunity while preparing them for the demands of the next level.

  • Professional Career

Following his playing career, Johnson transitioned into coaching and athlete development, founding TMF Elite, a training program focused on helping high school athletes improve their speed, technique, discipline, and football IQ.

His approach centers on providing athletes with the tools, structure, and mentorship needed to develop—while emphasizing that success ultimately comes from each athlete’s own work, commitment, and dedication.

Today, Johnson is recognized in Hawaiʻi as a respected private trainer who works with defensive backs and skill position athletes, helping them develop their skills and pursue opportunities at the next level.
